These optional features may include a choice of voltage ratings, such as primary and secondary voltage adjustments to suit various distribution systems. The transformer may also come with temperature rise limits that can be customized based on specific cooling needs. Additionally, the unit may include accessories like off-load or on-load tap changers for voltage regulation, and surge arresters for protection against voltage spikes. Corrosion-resistant coatings or stainless steel enclosures are also available for use in harsh environmental conditions.
Furthermore, specific insulation class options, such as Class A or Class F, can be chosen for improved thermal performance. Optional monitoring devices, such as temperature sensors, oil level indicators, or pressure relief valves, can also be integrated for enhanced operational safety and performance monitoring. For areas with high seismic activity, the transformer may also offer vibration-resistant designs. Each of these specifications is tailored to optimize the transformer’s efficiency, safety, and longevity depending on the installation environment and application requirements.

Packing and Shipping

50kVA Oil Immersed Transformer
NPC ELECTRIC 50kVA oil-immersed transformers are designed to be securely packaged for sea freight transport, ensuring safe delivery across long distances.
For this purpose, the packaging and transportation process of 50kVA three-phase oil-immersed transformers is carefully designed to ensure that the transformers are fully protected throughout the transportation process and arrive safely at the destination. First, the transformers will be placed in sturdy wooden boxes or wooden pallets for packaging. The packaging materials are treated with anti-corrosion to ensure moisture-proof, corrosion-proof, and can withstand the pressure of long-distance transportation. In order to reduce the vibration and impact that may occur during transportation, the transformers will be wrapped with materials such as shock pads, bubble film, plastic film, etc., and ensure that the transformers are firmly fixed in the packaging to prevent any displacement or collision. Since the transformer adopts an oil-immersed design, special attention should be paid to the sealing and oil level of the oil tank during packaging to ensure that the insulating oil will not leak during transportation. Clear markings will be affixed to the outside of the packaging, including "fragile", "moisture-proof", "keep dry" and "center of gravity mark", etc., to remind the transport personnel to pay attention to the requirements of handling and storage. Depending on the transportation destination and conditions, the transformers are usually transported by land, sea or rail transportation to ensure that the most appropriate means of transportation is selected. For international transportation, relevant customs documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists and export permits are also required to ensure smooth customs clearance and meet the import requirements of the destination country. After arriving at the destination, the transformer will be unloaded and visually inspected to ensure that the packaging is intact and the equipment is not damaged.
Through this series of carefully arranged packaging and transportation steps, it is ensured that the 50kVA three-phase oil-immersed transformer can be safely and smoothly delivered to the customer and is ready for use.

Manufacturer Test

50kVA Oil Immersed Transformer
50kVA Oil Immersed Transformer Progress Test

Progress Test

NPC Electric manufactures three-phase oil-immersed transformers the strict quality control. The Progress Test of a 50kVA three-phase oil-immersed transformer includes a series of rigorous inspections and tests to ensure that the performance of the transformer meets the design requirements and relevant standards.

The test content usually includes: winding resistance test, insulation resistance test, short-circuit impedance and load loss test, no-load loss test, and dielectric strength test, etc., to ensure that the electrical performance of the transformer meets the predetermined requirements.

In addition, the oil of the transformer will also be tested to check the quality and insulation strength of its insulating oil.

The Progress Test also includes an inspection of the external structure of the transformer, such as the sealing of the oil tank, the effectiveness of the pressure relief device, and the cooling system, to ensure that it meets safety standards.

During these tests, a temperature rise test is also performed to verify whether the heat dissipation effect and temperature control of the transformer under normal working load meet the requirements.

These tests ensure the reliability and long-term stable operation of the transformer.

Transformer Factory Acceptance Test

NPC Electric will have tests made for quality control by the manufacturer on every device or representative samples, or on parts or materials as required, to verify during production that the product meets the design specifications.

The Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of a 50kVA three-phase oil-immersed transformer is a comprehensive inspection process to ensure that the transformer meets the design requirements, technical standards, and quality specifications. The test usually includes several key items. First, a winding resistance test is performed to verify whether the resistance value of the winding meets the design specifications. Next, an insulation resistance test is performed to ensure the safety of the insulation system of each part of the transformer to prevent short circuits and leakage.  The temperature rise test simulates the operating temperature of the transformer under rated load to ensure that it will not fail due to overheating during long-term operation. Oil level and oil quality inspection ensure that the transformer's insulating oil is at a normal oil level and that the oil quality meets relevant standards. Finally, external structure inspection is performed, including the tightness of the oil tank, the pressure relief device, the effectiveness of the cooling system, and the safety of mechanical components. Through these tests, it is ensured that the transformer can meet all performance requirements before leaving the factory, and has good safety, reliability, and long-term operation stability.

Routine Test - Insulation Power Factor

Purpose of Testing
The purpose of testing the insulation power factor is to evaluate the dielectric loss of the insulation system in electrical equipment, and to determine whether issues such as moisture ingress, aging, or contamination are present. A high power factor value usually indicates insulation deterioration.
Testing Equipment
Insulation power factor tester (e.g., brands like Doble, Megger) Voltage source (typically 1 kV, 2.5 kV, or 10 kV or as the customer request standard) Temperature and humidity meter (for recording environmental conditions)
Pre-Test Preparation
De-energize tap changer the equipment and ensure it has been properly grounded and discharged. Make sure the bushings and terminal connections to prevent surface contamination from affecting test results. Perform the test under suitable environmental conditions: relative humidity below 75% and no rain (recommended temperature: 20–30°C). Calibrate and inspect the test instruments to ensure they are in good working condition.
Test Progress
Connect the Test Instrument: Connect the test equipment to the bushings or terminals of the equipment under test and ensure proper grounding. Apply Test Voltage: Select the appropriate test voltage according to the rated voltage of the equipment (e.g., 25 kV for high-voltage windings or as the request of the pad mounted transformer).
Measure and Record
Start the test and record the following parameters: Capacitive current (IC) Power current (IW) Power factor (PF) or dissipation factor (Tanδ) Capacitance Ambient temperature and humidity at the time of testing
Temperature Correction
Correct the measured power factor to the reference temperature (typically 20°C) for accurate evaluation.
Repeat Testing (if necessary)
Measure different windings (high-voltage, medium-voltage, low-voltage) and bushings separately for comparative analysis.
Evaluation Criteria (Reference)
Insulation power factor ≤ 0.5% (Excellent) 0.5% < Power factor ≤ 1% (Good) 1% (Further inspection or corrective action required) Test standard:IEEE C57.12.00 & IEEE C57.12.90 (Liquid-Immersed)
*These comprehensive tests ensure that each transformer meets performance standards and operates reliably under various conditions.
